So Twitter didn’t add any users in May, which might come as a surprise to many.
Nielsen Netview is reporting Twitter had 752k users in May, down from 780k in April.
In the same period Facebook added over 200,000 users, moving it’s monthly usage number to 4.97m people.
The big loser in all of this is MSN Messenger – which has lost over 600,000 users in the past 12 months … moving from 4.48m users to 3.8m
Youtube increased from 4.3m to 4.4m
Facebook’s engagement is staggering. USers on average are spending 3 hours, 57 minutes on the site per month. This is up from 2 hours, 10 mins 12 months ago. I guess this puts to bed all the expert opinion the redesign would hurt the site – it’s more popular and sticky than ever.
Messenger users are spending 2 hours, 29 mins on the service per month. The average YouTube user is spending 36 minutes and the average Twitter user 10 minutes.
So what about myspace.com? Well … it’s at 2m users for the month of May – up by around 74k on the month before.
Not so good news is the time spent on the site. Users spent on average 43 minutes on the site – not great as they move from a social network to an entertainment/music destination. Users are spending around 40% less time on the site than they were 12 months ago.
