Google is now a Tier 2 member – which is around a $2k a year membership fee
I guess that is what happens when the body spends most of its resource/PR on promoting display media and not really touching on search and the impact that has. Google rightfully looked at its investment and probably thinks it could use the reported $100k contribution better elsewhere.
Many have commented that Google didn’t take the initiative particularly seriously even when financially involved.
I doubt this will change the IAB’s approach but it creates a reasonable budget shortfall.
