Mashable states what I’ve been saying for months about Twitter

That most users are aged over 25 and teens aren’t big users.

“one quarter of US Internet users are under 25, Nielsen says, but only 16% of Twitter users lie in that age range”

My post from 3 months ago

“Twitter is for older people. 12-24 yo’s only make up just under 20% of Twitter’s audience … compared to 23% of Facebook and 43% of Myspace. Is it a coincidence that over 60% of twitter users are over 35 … and most of the Twitter cheersquad (ie it’s going to change everything) are also over 35 or fast approaching?”

  1. Yup, I was also asking in May: is this one social media application Gen Y just doesn’t get? But then again it was Mashable who was saying that 49% of users are 35+ back then too.
